I believe I have the solution now. In 70 degree conditions, the repeated and missed presses continued to occur, proving that it was not entirely dependent on the cold. My current best theory is that some hand sweat is entering the keys due to the recent rain and chilly temps, which prevented it from dissipating as quickly as it normally would have. The issue vanished after I briefly used a blow dryer to direct air towards the keyboard.
