I have a weird thing that I noticed on my home Twiddler. It could have been happining for a long time now since I don't use many symbol keys when typing at home, but I first noticed it because 00LL is supposed to send but all it was doing was . Later I could get - but not _ In effect:
= tab
< = ,
= .
_ = -
+ = =
Or to put it another way, any key that can become something else, other than a capitalized version of itself, is output as if I was pressing the shift key. If I actually do press the shift key then I'll get the correct key.
This only applies to keys you normally get by pressing shift before them. ie, the single quote can be invoked and I get single quote ('). Invoking double quote (") just gives me single quote (') until I press shift.
q comes out as q, not Q, / comes out as /, not ?. But ? comes out as / instead of ?. Strangely my chord for the outpust in.
I tried turning on and off and copied a new cfg file but this twiddler still acts the same. I might try reflashing the firmware.
Edit: I tried reflashing, but before doing that I checked the firmware output (N+S OROO) The output was:
VERSIOn + ).!%U
When I turned it off, then used N+S and powered on to revert to the base firmware it gives:
VERSIOn + ).!#b
After reflashing v15u firmware I get (again):
VERSIOn + ).!%U
However, pressing N+S OOOM (reset layout to default, ignoring twiddler.cfg) gives the correct firmware
VErsion = 0.15u
And reflashing doesn't fix the issue as I still only get the unshifted character (123 ,./ instead of the shifted key !@# <>?)
Edit2: A 2nd twiddler does the same. I wondered if my operating system (Manjaro Linux) might be affecting things, but when in the default layout (N+S OOOM) I can invoke question mark without the above issues. I also do not have the above issues on Windows for some reason.
