After looking at the way TabSpace and BackSpice handles numbers, I started experimenting with a non-dialpad layout for fast and intuitive number entry.
This method is geometric-flow-based. It is very easy to learn and retain.
It originates from the idea that one
use 2 fingers to type a 2
use 3 fingers to type a 3
...
Here is the mapping I have been using successfully to speed up typing of decimal numbers and date/time.
This method also conserves the chord space of those easy-to-type 2 button chords for Ngrams.
