Hello everybody, I am extremely excited to have finally joined this community. I have been curious about Twiddler for many years, but I always ended up shying away from it. I found myself coming across the Twiddler 3 once again today and I finally decided to commit to the challenge of learning this new skill. I have not received the device yet but I have started reading more about it in preparation.
My main goal for the Twiddler for now is to have a better typing interface away from my desktop, mostly for mobile and tablet use. Also, I would like to explore its use within VR and virtual desktops. Apart from just typing alot (emails, creative writing), I have also started learning programming so I hope this will be a valuable skill for that. I do alot of 3D CAD work, so I am curious to see how I can use the Twiddler on my left hand for shortcut keys. I often also do some illustration /sketching work on a graphics tablet with a pen in my right hand, so shortcut keys on the Twiddler (left) should also be useful here. Is it possible to set up the Twiddler to execute keyboard shortcuts for software?
A lot of the information seems to be quite old (2015) and this forum seems to be the only spot that's got an active Twiddler community. I could be wrong, if so, please point me towards the right directions.
So what are the essentials for starting out and what should my primary focus be? Backspice2 seems to be the latest, most comprehensive and optimised layout available. Would it be best for me if I started with BS2 from day one? Or should I rather start with the default or another beginner layout?
Are there any other questions I should be asking which I do not yet know of?
Thank you all. I can't wait to get started!
