Ideally and eventually I would like Backspace chord to remove the last chord, not the last character, so if you are not looking at what you are typing and are in doubt if you have pressed a wrong chord, you can "undo" a chord by pressing Backspace once.
With this line of thinking, a chord shouldn't have space in it when you are typing.
More empirically, I searched my 3-Million-character notes.
"and " occurs 5,741 times, while "and" occurs 9,045-5,741=3,304 times
"the ": 9,352 and "the": 13,703-9,352=4,351
These are case-insensitive numbers.
To me, these numbers don't justify a whole additional "workflow" of removing a space after some chords. Too much additional cognitive load for me.
